RCAN launches in Sweden!

RCAN – the Swedish launch!

This Wedneday 12^th September the successful official Swedish RCAN launch took place in Stockholm at Setterwalls’ office. The seminar was co hosted by RCAN, Setterwalls and the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC) and was organized the night before the two day conference Swedish Arbitration Days, which attracts arbitration practitioners from all over the world.

The seminar panel included Julia Popelysheva, Clifford Chance, Per Runeland, Setterwalls, Olga Glukhovska, University of Stockholm, and Linn Bergman, SCC. The panel was moderated by Johan Sidklev, Setterwalls. The topics for discussion was, inter alia, Russian & CIS arbitrators, Ukraine in investment arbitration, enforcement of awards against Russian parties and resolving disputes including Russian and CIS parties under the SCC Rules.

The seminar turned out to be a very interactive session with several questions, views and analysis from the floor, which included 120 arbitration practitioners from Sweden and abroad. No doubt commercial and investment arbitration with Russian and CIS parties continues to be a hot topic for counsel and arbitrators – not the least in Sweden where many such arbitrations are carried out either under the SCC Rules or under the UNCITRAL Rules with SCC as appointing authority.
